Basilicata
Basilicata has become famous in the last year as a Italy holidays destination thanks to the “The Passion” movie; it was shot in Matera, in the famous “Sassi”, declared by the UNESCO “World Heritage Site”. If you want to look for an accommodation Italy in the Sassi, it’s possible thanks to the many bed & breakfast Basilicata. The “Sassi” guests have hugely increased thanks to the film, arriving even from the US and Japan. Basilicata is a very quiet and peaceful region, the ideal destination for your Italy holidays at a farm. An example is the small city of Aliano, famous for having been the internal exile place of the writer Carlo Levi. Aliano has become famous all over the world thanks to the “Christ has stopped at Eboli” movie and book; the Carlo Levi Museum is still present and the writer is buried over there. An Italy seaside resort here is Maratea, located on the Tyrrhenian coast; it has obtained the “Blue Flag” thanks to its clean sea. On the Ionian coast it’s possible to spend your beach holidays in Southern Italy in Pisticci, famous for its blue and white ceramic products and for its “Amaro Lucano”.
