Friuli- Venezia Giulia
Friuli- Venezia Giulia (Slovene: Furlanija–Julijska krajina) is located in North-Eastern Italy and it’s officially bilingual (Italian- Slovene) in the Trieste and Gorizia provinces. In Trieste lived many poets and writers, like: come Umberto Saba, Italo Svevo and James Joyce. Trieste (Slovene: Trst) also hosts many museums and castles; the most famous one is the Miramare Castle (Italian: Castello di Miramare, Slovene: Miramar Grad), where the Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian of Austria lived with his wife, Charlotte of Belgium. Another place to visit in Friuli- Venezia Giulia is Aquileia, where many Roman and Langobardic finds were found; this town was used by Pier Paolo Pasolini as a set for his movies. A seaside resort in Friuli- Venezia Giulia is Grado (Slovene: Gradec), famous for its sea thermal baths; they enjoy a convention with the National Health Service. Another thermal city of Friuli- Venezia Giulia is Arta Terme, where the poet Giosuè Carducci spent his holidays in the mountains. Other mountain resorts in Italy in Friuli are: Forni Avoltri, Forni di Sopra, Sauris and Tolmezzo.
