Trentino
The Trentino region occupies the Southern portion of the Autonomous Region of Trentino- South Tyrol; its most important city is Trent (Italian: Trento), famous for its important historic and art treasures. An example is the “Castello del Buon Consiglio”, where the patriot Cesare Battisti was hanged; the Neptune fountain is the most beautiful in the city. The historic “Palazzo delle Albere”, hosts a MART (Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rovereto and Trento) section, one of the biggest in Italy. The “Museo Storico di Trento” (“Trento Historic Museum”) illustrates the history of Trentino from the XVIII century till the end of World War II. The cinema fans surely know that Ida Dalser, one of the most important female figures in Mussolini’s personal life, was from Sopramonte, in the immediate surroundings of Trento. Her personal history is illustrated in the movie “Vincere!” which was successfully presented at international cinema festivals (Cannes, Chicago) as well.
